A week after FEMA sent temporary housing to Cedar Rapids, people are starting to move in. FEMA has leased 301 sites in area mobile home parks and has delivered 36 manufactured homes with 61 more coming from Maryland and Arkansas.

FEMA's coordinating officer in Iowa, Bill Vogel, promised Governor Culver that families would begin to move in within twenty days of the state's request. Vogel says he's proud state and federal officials could get it done so quickly.

FEMA says nearly $100 million has been approved for tens of thousands of Iowans hit by natural disasters this spring. Currently more than 27,000 Iowans have registered for assistance. The federal government has approved $88.8 million for both public and individual assistance across the state.

The Small Business Administration has approved $34.9 million in disaster relief. So far, more than 22,000 people have visited FEMA's disaster recovery centers for help.
